Halloween Party!

Bring a costume and express yourself creatively! ALL AGES. Have fun playing “dress up” and enjoy exploring the Island in our “task or(and) treat” followed by a celebration.

140 Years at Sea Talk

Island Historian Ann Beattie will be offering a special presentation covering the legacy of the Isles of Shoals’ grand Oceanic Hotel, one of New England’s few remaining Victorian resort hotels. Hear tales of the subterfuge and rivalry that inspired the building of the Oceanic on Star Island and the renowned Appledore House across the harbor. Discover how flames destroyed the hotels and learn of the ingenious effort in creating a second grand Oceanic Hotel.

Recipe Swap

Bring one or two recipes (Star/Pel-connected if you have one) that are special to you. If there is a story behind your recipe, we will take time to share stories.

Book Swap

Bring a book to leave; take a different book home with you on Monday. (Bring two, take two, etc.) We will meet to discuss our contributions and share opinions and thoughts.

Yankee Swap

Back by popular demand! We guarantee a lot of suspense and fun! If you’d like to participate, please bring a wrapped gift that is either related to Star, totally useless, or cost you virtually nothing to get. Here’s your chance to regift that apron from Aunt Agatha! Wrapping paper will be available in case you forget. If you get to the island and have forgotten to bring something, Gift Shop and Snack Bar gift certificates work quite well!  For info or questions contact Elise Anton at ekanton@comcast.net

Silent Auction

Bring something upon which others will bid to help raise funds for the Pel Reunion Scholarship Fund. If you forget or don’t want to carry anything, the Shops on Star now offer GIFT CERTIFICATES!

Fellowship/Social Hour

Fabulously hosted and paid for by your generous donations, please bring your appetites and donations for the basket please. Non-alcoholic options are also provided.

FOR PARENTS: PIT (PELICANS IN TRAINING) CREW

The PIT Crew is our children’s program, managed and overseen by Deb Weiner Soule and Ben Soule. All registered families will receive an informational email from Deb and Ben. If you have questions, please contact Ben or Deb directly (bgsoule101@gmail.com or djweiner101@gmail.com). The PIT groups meet Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning and afternoon, and Monday morning. The groups are led by “anchor teachers” and volunteers from the conference. We need your help to ensure that safe child-adult ratios are maintained.

There will be a twenty-minute MANDATORY orientation for kids and parents just before the Saturday afternoon PIT program at 1:10 PM!  Please check the chalk board for location of this orientation.

Bedtimes:

Please note that while the current Pelicans serve as Hall Monitors in the evenings on the second floor of the Oceanic (beginning at 8 PM and finishing at 11 PM), this is offered for the entire second floor and should not be considered babysitting. Parents must be easily accessible at all times. Make sure you leave your cell phone number or location with hall monitors so they may locate you should the need arise. Parents are also asked to pitch in and monitor kids during Fellowship/Social Hour. Star Island is a fun and exhausting place. We encourage parents to make sure their children are in bed at these suggested bedtimes: ages 0-4: 7:30 PM; ages 5-9: 8:30 PM; ages 10-13 – 9:30 PM. Well-rested kids are happy kids!
